Dr. DesMarteau is a native Californian and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from U.C.L.A. He completed his dental education at the University of the Pacific of Dentistry in 1980. After graduating dental school, Dr. DesMarteau moved to the East Bay where he began private practice. Dr. DesMarteau has practiced general dentistry in Piedmont since 1986. Dr. DesMarteau and his wife Susie have two boys, Chad and Sean. They enjoy skiing, traveling together and participating in their children's sporting events. Early on in his dental career, Dr. DesMarteau concentrated on learning more about cosmetic dentistry. Upon receiving his DDS degree, he continued taking many additional courses in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. DesMarteau graduated from the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry and now teaches other dentists from all over the U.S. the latest in cosmetic dental procedures. In 1998, Dr. DesMarteau was honored to be selected as an instructor in an advanced, hands-on cosmetic dentistry course, called P.A.C.~live. This course specializes in porcelain veneer application and smile design. Dentists from across the U.S. come to P.A.C.~live to learn the latest in aesthetic dentistry. He also is the co-director of a graduate course in cosmetic dentistry at the U.O.P. School of Dentistry called the "Aesthetic Revolution." In addition to his love for teaching and practicing cosmetic dentistry, Dr. DesMarteau is very involved as a leader in sports dentistry. Currently, he is the team dentist for the Golden State Warriors and Oakland Raiders. He also takes care of the University of California Men and Women's basketball programs, the U.S. rugby team and the Piedmont High School football team. He is also proud to be regional dentist for the U.S. Men and Women's National soccer teams. Because of his experience in treating professional, collegiate and amateur athletics, Dr. DesMarteau is an advocate for custom-made mouthguards for all ages and skill levels. If you or your family members are involved with any contact sports, ask Dr. DesMarteau or his staff about custom mouthguards. You can have the same type of professional mouthguards he makes for Tim Brown or Antawn Jamison. The most important thing to know about Dr. DesMarteau is his uncompromising commitment to providing quality dentistry for all his patients. In this time of HMO's and managed care, Dr. DesMarteau refuses to allow third parties to dictate treatment for his patients. He believes every patient should have the option to choose the best quality dentistry available. |
Dr. Elder is originally from Wilton Junction, Iowa. He completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 1968 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. While at Cornell he was a varsity football player. He attended the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry where he received his dental degree in 1972. Dr. Elder has been in practice for over 30 years, the last 22 years being in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He and his wife Becky of 34 years raised their family of two sons and a daughter in La Crescent, Minnesota. They now have 3 grandchildren. Dr. Elder has always enjoyed the Western United States, and with 2 of his children now living in the Bay Area, their relocation to California made sense. An avid motorcycle rider Dr. Elder has a particular love for his Harley Davidson. He and Dr. DesMarteau have shared several rides throughout the west coast over the years. Dr. Elder has an overall love of the outdoors and enjoys camping, any other spare time he spends reading. Committed to learning, Dr. Elder continues to take advanced training in various aspects of dentistry which include: endodontics, cosmetics, implants, lasers, Invisalign and computerized dentistry that allows us to offer CAD/CAM technology with Cerec restorations. He is a graduate of the Pacific Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The most important thing to know about Dr. Elder is that he shares our commitment to providing quality dentistry to all our patients. |

Stephanie
is an RDA, currently focusing on the business aspects of the practice. She also assists in scheduling and financing at the front office. Stephanie has been working with Dr. Desmarteau since 1987.
Stephanie grew up in Hayward, California and has been married to Scott since 1990 and they have two children;
Kaitlyn and Cole. She enjoys boating, swimming, scrap booking,
decorating, entertaining, and hanging out with family and friends. 
Rhonda
has been at the office since 1992 and in dentistry since 1980. Rhonda shares management duties with Stephanie as well
as assisting new patients with financial arrangements, treatment planning
and helping patients reach their goals and ultimate smile. She loves her job and has no intentions of leaving. Rhonda was born and raised in Oakland and has continued to raise her family here as well. Rhonda
has been married for 23 years to husband David and has two children; Dana, 22 and Brendan, 18 and a Jack Russell named Keno. She enjoys
activities with her family such as water skiing, snow skiing and camping.
Shirley
is an Registered Dental Assistant and joined us in May, 1999. She's been in general dentistry
for 20 years. Her duties include chairside assisting, taking x-rays,
whitening tray fabrication and patient education. Shirley grew up in Hayward, California and has her AA in General Ed and Dental Assisting. Shirley is married to husband Ken and she enjoys baking, hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
Veronica
has worked with Dr. DesMarteau since 1991 as a RDA and helping at the front desk. She has been working in dentistry for 15 years. Veronica attended
ROP in Hayward to obtain her licence to be a dental assistant.
Veronica is also a graduate from Chabot College. In her free time,
she enjoys snow boarding, jet skiing, dirt bike riding and reading. 
Dana
is an
RDA and has been with Dr. DesMarteau for since 1989and in dentistry
for over 25 years. She attended City College in San Francisco and
then studied dental hygiene at Foothill College
in Los Altos. Dana grew up in San Francisco and lives there with her
husband and two sons, Kyle and Taylor. Dana loves tennis, skiing, golf, and watching her sons' teams play basketball, baseball and soccer. In 2004 she hiked the half dome in Yosemite - it 11 hours!! She also played tennis in the Nationals for USTA in 1997 and 2000. 
Genny
is a Registered Dental Hygienist and join our team in 2002. She has worked in dentistry for 9 years.
Her duties include routine prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance and
patient educator. Genny was a dental assistant for 3 years prior
to becoming a hygienist. In addition to graduating with honors,
she also went through a Implant Certification Program through the University
of Texas in 2000. Genny grew up in the Philippines and moved here when she was 13. Genny is married to husband Jay and has a daughter Kaitlyn Paige and enjoys singing in her church
choir where her husband plays the organ.
Cindy is a Registered Dental Hygienist and joined our team in 2004. She has been working in dentistry since 1990 and grew up in San Leandro, California. Cindy has a AA in Dental Hygiene from San Joaquin Valley College and a BS in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University. She in married to husband Todd and in her spare time she loves to travel, read, decorate and spend time with her friends and family. Cindy is an active member in ADHA and CDHA. 
Malou works with Dr. DesMarteau as a Registered Dental Assistant, she has been here since 2003 and has worked in dentistry since 1999. Malou grew up in San Diego and attended SDSU. Malou's family is still in San Diego and she has a western hognose snake. She enjoys tennis, softball, back packing, camping, snowboarding, and running 
Maria is a Registered Dental Assistant and has been working in dentistry for 15 years. Maria grew up in San Leandro and attended Santa Rosa Junior College. She enjoys taekwando, jogging, camping and spending time with her son Austin, daughter Celeste and her Jack Russell terrier Madison.
Rhonda works in the front office for Dr. Desmarteau and has been in dentistry for 6 years. She grew up in Alaska and when she is not working Rhonda enjoys volleyball, adventure racing and scuba diving.
